~Essential Face Wash~

What? : Trisan antibacterial skin cleanser.

Why? : Recommended to me many years ago by my dermatologist. This product is soap free, oil free, perfume free and alcohol free. Only suds mildly and does not dry out your skin. Excellent product if you have combination, oily or acne-prone skin. Also great as an “after workout” wash – to clear out those sweat-blocked pores! Can be used for your face as well as whole body. Contains “triclosan” – the ingredient that kills germs. Yucky!

How much? : $12 – $16 CDN – depending on where you purchase.

~Tombodama Bead Necklace~

What? : Japanese glass bead known as “Tombodama” threaded through a silver chain – wearable art! My particular piece is a pink bead with gold flecks blown into the glass. Love the way it picks up colours from my wardrobe!

Why? : Every Tombodama is handcrafted individually and therefore unique. Great to have as an accessory or even as a collectible. Designed by Vancouver based glass artist Minori Takagi. These colourful glass beads feature floral and other patterns. The artist uses “Satake” glass rather than Moretti glass as it is softer and has a higher refractive index.

Where? : Currently the artist only sells on certain dates at Granville Island Public Market, Portobello Market, and various events throughout the Lower Mainland. Check out her website for her schedule.

You also won’t be overwhelmed by a gazzillion colours, as Beaute only carries 12 different shades. Colours have great pigmentation and are effortless to apply with their Taklon brush. Finding a complimentary colour from their neutral palette should prove to be an easy feat.

What?: The Scrub Of Your Life – body scrub by UK based Soap & Glory.

Why?: Perfect for everyday use. This body scrub is gel based with granules. Bonus: The smell is oh-so-heavenly. Not sure what type of scent notes it carries, but I would imagine that “heaven” would smell like this….Fragrance lingers on you limbs throughout the day. Expect a lot of compliments!

What? : Body butter from Soap & Glory – UK-based face and body product brand

Why? : This body butter is unlike the other “butters” on the market. The texture is almost gel-like – not as oily as others. The fragrance of peaches is incredibly fresh and long -lasting…. smells good enough to eat (although it is not reccommended)
